Regents thank Pittsburg State President Dan Shipp for his service

(Topeka, Kan.) – Kansas Board of Regents Chair Carl Ice issued the following statement thanking Pittsburg State University President Dan Shipp for his service following President Shipp’s announcement that he is leaving the university in June:

"On behalf of the Board, I want to thank President Shipp for his service to Pittsburg State University and the Kansas public higher education system. He worked to advance our system’s strategic goals of helping Kansas families and supporting Kansas businesses. Under President Shipp’s leadership, Pittsburg State prioritized student success at the university. As a result, during his tenure the university has increased on-time graduation rates, substantially grown its student financial aid awards, and decreased student loan debt. President Shipp is to be commended for these accomplishments. He leaves PSU with a strong strategic plan and has helped position Pittsburg State University for a bright future.

"The Regents thank President Shipp for agreeing to continue serving as President of Pittsburg State through May. We extend him our warmest congratulations and wish him all the best in his new role."

The Board plans to discuss the search for the next president of Pittsburg State soon.
