Parsons High School named a 2024 School of Excellence by ACT’s American College Application Campaign
(Topeka, Kan.) – ACT’s American College Application Campaign (ACAC) has named Parsons High School as a 2024 School of Excellence as part of the Apply Kansas effort to increase the number of first-generation college students and students from under-resourced communities pursuing a college degree or other higher education credential. Parsons High School is one of 26 outstanding schools being recognized nationwide.
"Parsons High School is honored to be recognized as the ACAC School of Excellence for the state of Kansas,” said Parsons High School Principal Rob Barcus. “Our faculty and staff work hard each day to help ensure our students' success both in the classroom and beyond. It's a great day to be a Viking."
Parsons High School has also been named a 2025 Kansas All Star High School by the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR). The school has been an All Star High School each year since KBOR instituted the award in 2022.
“The Regents congratulate Parsons High School for achieving national recognition for their efforts to help students pursue education beyond high school,” said KBOR President and CEO Blake Flanders. “We are grateful for the hundreds of Kansas high schools who are participating in Apply Kansas events. Their partnership is helping more students, especially first-generation and low-income students, access a college education.”
Apply Kansas is the Regents’ annual statewide campaign in which high schools conduct events to help seniors apply to college. The campaign is conducted in partnership with ACAC with a goal of increasing the number of students applying, enrolling, and succeeding in college or other postsecondary pathways.
Nationally, the ACAC campaign has served nearly 5.17 million students who have submitted more than 10 million applications since 2005. This is the sixth year that ACAC has recognized outstanding schools.
